We Bid Juan Farewell

January 21st, 2014

Last weekend we had our last two shows with Juan on vocals. He’s making some career changes which involve full-time work plus school in the evenings, so he gracefully bowed out. The last two shows were great, and we’ll miss him, but we are already auditioning a replacement. Additionally, we’ll keep most of the vocal parts already written and will even squeeze some recordings out of Juan before he fully exits. Read the rest of this entry »

New (and old) Demos Released

December 7th, 2013

Else just released a ton of new demo material organized into two Bandcamp albums for you all to listen to! The material on the first album, A[], is a bit older, mostly representing things written before the end of 2012. A[] contains a few songs you may have heard us playing at some of our shows.  The second album, B[], contains songs written towards the end of 2012 through 2013. These songs don’t yet have lyrics or full drum parts, and represent the types of material you can expect from the band in the next year or two.

Take a listen at elsetheband.bandcamp.com »

There are another 8 songs which are neither on A[] or B[] because they’ll be released with our forthcoming ep.

New Show Announced – January 18th at Club Garibaldi

November 19th, 2013

We’ll be playing our first back-to-back show weekend in mid January with this newly booked show. We’ve played with both Ultrea and Red and the Wolf before and think very highly of them both. This should be a great show!

After a good run of shows this last summer through fall, we’re going to hunker down for the next month and work on some new recordings! So far, we have 3 demo tunes available on the music page, but we’re hoping to re-record these three and at least five more. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting into the Groove

October 14th, 2013

Else is really settling in as a band, and it feels great. It’s not yet even been 9 months since we found our lineup, and we’ve already played 7 great shows plus a few small acoustic sets for friends. We have two more shows on the books (November 7th with Tigernite at the Up and Under and Dec 7th at Club Giribaldi), and are working on setting up 2014 shows.

As far as the music itself goes, we have an hour’s worth of original material and are working on more now. Read the rest of this entry »

A New Look

September 9th, 2013

Over this last weekend we redesigned our logo and website. The new look is sleeker, darker, more modern, and better suits the bands cutting-edge, digital, and heavy sound. This was the first step in our overall rebranding effort which will soon include business cards, a banner, and some better CD prints. We hope to see you at our next show, October 4th in Kenosha (at Finney’s Lounge), so you can see our improved new look!

More Shows!

August 24th, 2013

We’ve had 3 fantastic shows in the last two weeks and have met a ton of great bands and fans. It was a ton of fun finally playing at the legendary Blue Pig on August 10th, I still can’t believe we got to share a show with Encryptor on August 16th, and we had our first Madison show just this last Wednesday the 21st. Highlights of those shows were definitely the bands Encryptor, Ultrea, and Red the Wolf, who we hope to play with again.

So, after 3 shows in the last 2 weeks, we’re slowing down just a bit, but certainly not stopping. Read the rest of this entry »

Acoustic Sets

July 29th, 2013

Last month Juan and Kent played “Absence of Breath” on a classical guitar for a group of friends and it went over really well. Given that success, we’ve decided to work on a few more acoustic songs. We’re focusing on adding two more originals, “Cemetery Dance” and “Who Will Cry for the Little Boy”, as well as a few more A Perfect Circle covers. The goal is to be able to play a 20-30 minute acoustic set in addition to our full band set.
